A village hall run by the village, for the village
Chewton Mendip Village Hall is a registered charity managed by a committee of volunteer trustees.
Our history
For almost 100 years the hall has been the place where Chewton Mendip comes together – for celebrations, performances, meetings, clubs and the annual village pantomime. This year we celebrate our centenary.
What the hall does today
- Community events, performances and celebrations
- The annual village pantomime, over three nights
- Quizzes, murder mysteries, music, board game and dance nights
- Christmas and New Year events
- Meetings, clubs and private functions
- A warm, safe place during floods or power cuts, with fibre internet

Our trustees
The hall is run entirely by volunteer trustees, who maintain the building, manage bookings and keep the hall affordable and welcoming. Between them they bring experience of business, banking, healthcare, engineering, property management, fundraising and event organisation – helped by many local volunteers.
